Solomon & The Temple
Solomon builds the great Temple in Jerusalem and rules with unprecedented wisdom and wealth before foreign gods divide his heart.
- 2 Chronicles 4:15c. 1011 BC
one sea, and the twelve oxen under it.
- 2 Chronicles 4:16c. 1011 BC
Huram his father also made the pots, the shovels, the forks, and all its vessels for king Solomon for the LORD’s house of bright brass.
- 2 Chronicles 4:17c. 1011 BC
The king cast them in the plain of the Jordan, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah.
- 2 Chronicles 4:18c. 1011 BC
Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.
- 2 Chronicles 4:19c. 1011 BC
Solomon made all the vessels that were in God’s house, the golden altar also, and the tables with the show bread on them;
- 2 Chronicles 4:20c. 1011 BC
and the lamp stands with their lamps, to burn according to the ordinance before the oracle, of pure gold;
- 2 Chronicles 4:21c. 1011 BC
and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold, and that perfect gold;
- 2 Chronicles 4:22c. 1011 BC
and the snuffers, and the basins, and the spoons, and the fire pans, of pure gold: and as for the entry of the house, the inner doors of it for the most holy place, and the doors of the main hall of the temple were of gold.
- 2 Chronicles 5:1c. 1004 BC
Thus all the work that Solomon did for the LORD’s house was finished. Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, even the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels, and put them in the treasuries of the house of God.
- 2 Chronicles 5:2c. 1004 BC
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.
- 2 Chronicles 5:3c. 1004 BC
And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to the king at the feast, which was in the seventh month.
- 2 Chronicles 5:4c. 1004 BC
All the elders of Israel came: and the Levites took up the ark;
- 2 Chronicles 5:5c. 1004 BC
and they brought up the ark, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; these the priests the Levites brought up.
- 2 Chronicles 5:6c. 1004 BC
King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled to him, were before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.
- 2 Chronicles 5:7c. 1004 BC
The priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.
- 2 Chronicles 5:8c. 1004 BC
For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles above.
- 2 Chronicles 5:9c. 1004 BC
The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen outside: and there it is to this day.
- 2 Chronicles 5:10c. 1004 BC
There was nothing in the ark except the two tables which Moses put at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
- 2 Chronicles 5:11c. 1004 BC
When the priests had come out of the holy place, (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, and didn’t keep their divisions;
- 2 Chronicles 5:12c. 1004 BC
also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests sounding with shofars;)
- 2 Chronicles 5:13c. 1004 BC
when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the shofars and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, “For he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever!” then the house was filled with a cloud, even the LORD’s house,
- 2 Chronicles 5:14c. 1004 BC
so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the LORD’s glory filled God’s house.
- 2 Chronicles 6:1c. 1004 BC
Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
- 2 Chronicles 6:2c. 1004 BC
But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever.”
- 2 Chronicles 6:3c. 1004 BC
The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.
