Private by Design
Your favorites, history, and settings live locally in your browser. The extension makes no tracking requests, carries no third-party scripts, and by default sends us nothing about you at all. Importing from the website happens entirely within your browser, only when you ask for it. Connect your TrulyRandomVerse account and the verses you save go to your account so they reach your other devices — saved verses and nothing else, only after you enter a pairing code, and only until you disconnect.

Version History
Initial release for personal use. Basic random verse functionality and dark mode. Never published.
Published to the Chrome Web Store. Favorites, verse history, 28 languages, customizable notifications, and integrated search.
Complete rewrite. Website sync, More tab with devotional and topic of the day, compare versions, context menu search, share dropdown, verse persistence, and a refined UI.
Expanded to 39 languages and 46 Bible versions. Version selector now matches the website with flags, native script names, and translation identifiers.
Guided Serendipity vibe filter (red-to-blue mood slider). Custom notification schedules with up to 8 time slots, per-slot verse filter, and test notification. Font choice for verse text (sans, serif, humanist). Vibe color dots in verse history.
Smarter language switching: the verse on screen stays put when you change versions, including multi-verse passages and versions whose verse numbering differs. Nine fonts matching the website, three newly bundled. More reliable favorites sync with the website. First-time installs now open a brief welcome page showing how to pin TRV to your toolbar, plus assorted fixes.
Major release. A new Passage tab shows the full passage your verse sits within — synced, in your chosen language, right-to-left aware — alongside random famous passages. Inline Strong’s lookup for any Greek or Hebrew number, a unified search box, and a reorganized Extras tab with the full devotional, article of the day, and quick links. Settings now live inside the popup itself (no separate page), with an optional well-known-verses filter that pairs with the mood slider, and topic tags beneath each verse. Wider, refined layout throughout.
The extension stopped syncing with the website by itself. It used to merge favorites and history in both directions on every page load, which quietly filled the extension’s History with verses you had only read in a browser tab — and made deleting anything impossible, because the next page load put it back. Now nothing moves unless you press Import from website, it only ever moves one way, and the extension no longer writes to the site’s data at all. Deleting a favorite or clearing your history sticks.
The extension can now connect to your TrulyRandomVerse account, so a verse you save in the popup is the same one you see on the site and on your phone — and removing it anywhere removes it everywhere. Connecting is optional and takes a code you get from Your data and type into the popup; it can be disconnected from either end, and it reaches your saved verses and nothing else. Without it the extension works exactly as before, entirely in your own browser.
