  1. Ask ye the peace of Jerusalem, At rest are those loving thee.

  2. Peace is in thy bulwark, rest in thy high places,

  3. Jehovah doth bless thee out of Zion, Look, then, on the good of Jerusalem, All the days of thy life,

  4. And see the sons of thy sons! Peace on Israel!

  12. And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people slightly, Saying, Peace, peace! and there is no peace.

  13. For a breach of the daughter of my people have I been broken, I have been black, astonishment hath seized me.

  14. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? For wherefore hath not the health of the daughter of my people gone up?

  15. Who doth make my head waters, And mine eye a fountain of tears? And I weep by day and by night, For the wounded of the daughter of my people.

  16. Who doth give me in a wilderness A lodging-place of travellers? And I leave my people, and go from them, For all of them are adulterers, An assembly of treacherous ones.

  17. Remember, O Jehovah, what hath befallen us, Look attentively, and see our reproach.

  18. Our inheritance hath been turned to strangers, Our houses to foreigners.

  19. Orphans we have been--without a father, our mothers are as widows.

  20. Our water for money we have drunk, Our wood for a price doth come.

  21. For our neck we have been pursued, We have laboured--there hath been no rest for us.

  22. To Egypt we have given a hand, To Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.

  23. Our fathers have sinned--they are not, We their iniquities have borne.

  24. Servants have ruled over us, A deliverer there is none from their hand.

  25. With our lives we bring in our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness.
