  9. They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

  10. However the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.

  11. Amalek dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan.”

  12. Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”

  13. But the men who went up with him said, “We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”

  14. They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.

  15. There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

  16. The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

  17. “Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders),

  18. then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the side of Edom, and your south border shall be from the end of the Salt Sea eastward.

  19. Your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and it shall pass southward of Kadesh Barnea; and it shall go from there to Hazar Addar, and pass along to Azmon.

  20. The border shall turn about from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and it shall end at the sea.

  21. “‘For the western border, you shall have the great sea and its border. This shall be your west border.

  22. “‘This shall be your north border: from the great sea you shall mark out for yourselves Mount Hor.

  23. From Mount Hor you shall mark out to the entrance of Hamath; and the border shall pass by Zedad.

  24. Then the border shall go to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your north border.

  25. “‘You shall mark out your east border from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
