  1. Of these were the yles of the Gentiles deuided in their landes, euery man after his tongue, and after their families in their nations.

  2. These are the sonnes of Ham according to their families, according to their tongues in their countries and in their nations.

  3. Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.

  4. And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.

  7. But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.

  8. And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.

  9. Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.

  10. So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.

  11. Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.

  12. The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.

  13. In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.

  14. Hee that hath knowledge, spareth his wordes, and a man of vnderstanding is of an excellent spirit.

  15. He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soule from afflictions.

  16. Seest thou a man hastie in his matters? there is more hope of a foole, then of him.

  17. A time to rent, and a time to sowe: a time to keepe silence, and a time to speake.

  18. For I will visite their workes, and their imaginations: for it shall come that I will gather all nations, and tongues, and they shall come, and see my glorie.

  19. And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were al with one accord in one place.

  20. And suddenly there came a sounde from heauen, as of a russhing and mightie winde, and it filled all the house where they sate.

  21. And there appeared vnto them clouen tongues, like fire, and it sate vpon eche of them.

  22. And they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and began to speake with other tongues, as the Spirit gaue them vtterance.

  23. And there were dwelling at Hierusalem Iewes, men that feared God, of euery nation vnder heauen.

  24. Nowe when this was noised, the multitude came together and were astonied, because that euery man heard them speake his owne language.

  25. And they wondered al, and marueiled, saying among themselues, Beholde, are not all these which speake, of Galile?
