  1. He hath gathered together his fury against me, and threatening me he hath gnashed with his teeth upon me: my enemy hath beheld me with terrible eyes.

  2. They have opened their mouths upon me, and reproaching me they have struck me on the cheek, they are filled with my pains.

  12. Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

  13. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

  14. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

  15. For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.

  16. If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;

  17. If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;

  18. Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

  19. Thou hast set a bound which they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth.

  20. Thou sendest forth springs in the vales: between the midst of the hills the waters shall pass.

  21. Who is wise, and will keep these things; and will understand the mercies of the Lord?

  22. Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

  23. And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

  24. He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

  25. ¶ I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
