  1. They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me.

  2. God delivereth me to the ungodly, And casteth me into the hands of the wicked.

  3. I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He hath also set me up for his mark.

  10. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterfalls: All thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

  11. Thou broughtest us into the net; Thou layedst a sore burden upon our loins.

  12. Thou didst cause men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

  13. But he, being merciful, forgave theiriniquity, and destroyedthemnot: Yea, many a time turned he his anger away, And did not stir up all his wrath.

  14. And he remembered that they were but flesh, A wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

  15. Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.

  16. If his children forsake my law, And walk not in mine ordinances;

  17. If they break my statutes, And keep not my commandments;

  18. Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, And their iniquity with stripes.

  19. He will not always chide; Neither will he keephis angerfor ever.

  20. He hath not dealt with us after our sins, Nor rewarded us after our iniquities.

  21. Many times did he deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And were brought low in their iniquity.

  22. Nevertheless he regarded their distress, When he heard their cry:

  23. And he remembered for them his covenant, And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

  24. He made them also to be pitied Of all those that carried them captive.

  25. I know, O Jehovah, that thy judgments are righteous, And that in faithfulness thou hast afflicted me.
