  1. So I also have had empty months, and have numbered to myself wearisome nights.

  2. If I lie down to sleep, I shall say: When shall I rise? and again, I shall look for the evening, and shall be filled with sorrows even till darkness.

  3. The murderer riseth at the very break of day, he killeth the needy, and the poor man: but in the night he will be as a thief.

  10. He hath set me in a place of pasture. He hath brought me up, on the water of refreshment:

  11. Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

  12. They will shoot at him on a sudden, and will not fear: they are resolute in wickedness. They have talked of hiding snares; they have said: Who shall see them?

  13. The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

  14. That another generation might know them. The children that should be born and should rise up, and declare them to their children.

  15. The king sent, and he released him: the ruler of the people, and he set him at liberty.

  16. He made him master of his house, and ruler of all his possession.

  17. That he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his ancients wisdom.

  18. And Israel went into Egypt: and Jacob was a sojourner in the land of Cham.

  19. Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

  20. Alleluia. Praise ye the name of the Lord: O you his servants, praise the Lord:

  21. Burning coals shall fall upon them; thou wilt cast them down into the fire: in miseries they shall not be able to stand.

  22. In the dark when it grows late, in the darkness and obscurity of the night.

  23. She hath tasted, and seen that her traffic is good: her lamp shall not be put out in the night.

  24. In my bed by night I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, and found him not.

  25. I sleep, and my heart watcheth: the voice of my beloved knocking: Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is full of dew, and my locks of the drops of the nights.
