  1. If, therefore the uncircumcision the righteousness of the law may keep, shall not his uncircumcision for circumcision be reckoned?

  2. and the uncircumcision, by nature, fulfilling the law, shall judge thee who, through letter and circumcision, art a transgressor of law.

  3. For he is not a Jew who is so outwardly, neither is circumcision that which is outward in flesh;

  4. but a Jew is he who is so inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, of which the praise is not of men, but of God.

  5. Is this happiness, then, upon the circumcision, or also upon the uncircumcision--for we say that the faith was reckoned to Abraham--to righteousness?

  6. how then was it reckoned? he being in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision;

  7. and a sign he did receive of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith in the uncircumcision, for his being father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for the righteousness also being reckoned to them,

  8. nor because they are seed of Abraham are all children, but--`in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee;'

  9. that is, the children of the flesh--these are not children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for seed;

  10. for the word of promise is this; `According to this time I will come, and there shall be to Sarah a son.'

  11. And not only so , but also Rebecca, having conceived by one--Isaac our father--

  12. (for they being not yet born, neither having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to choice, might remain; not of works, but of Him who is calling,) it was said to her--

  13. `The greater shall serve the less;'

  14. according as it hath been written, `Jacob I did love, and Esau I did hate.'

  15. being circumcised--was any one called? let him not become uncircumcised; in uncircumcision was any one called? let him not be circumcised;

  16. the circumcision is nothing, and the uncircumcision is nothing--but a keeping of the commands of God.

  17. but not even Titus, who is with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised--

  18. and that because of the false brethren brought in unawares, who did come in privily to spy out our liberty that we have in Christ Jesus, that us they might bring under bondage,

  19. to whom not even for an hour we gave place by subjection, that the truth of the good news might remain to you.

  20. lo, I Paul do say to you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing;

  21. and I testify again to every man circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law;

  22. ye were freed from the Christ, ye who in law are declared righteous; from the grace ye fell away;

  23. for we by the Spirit, by faith, a hope of righteousness do wait for,

  24. for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.

  25. Ye were running well; who did hinder you--not to obey the truth?
