  1. Then Yeshua went with his talmidim to a place called Gat-Sh'manim and said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."

  2. He took with him Kefa and Zavdai's two sons. Grief and anguish came over him,

  3. and he said to them, "My heart is so filled with sadness that I could die! Remain here and stay awake with me."

  4. Going on a little farther, he fell on his face, praying, "My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet -- not what I want, but what you want!"

  5. He returned to the talmidim and found them sleeping. He said to Kefa, "Were you so weak that you couldn't stay awake with me for even an hour?

  6. Stay awake, and pray that you will not be put to the test -- the spirit indeed is eager, but human nature is weak."

  7. A second time he went off and prayed. "My Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink it, let what you want be done."

  8. Again he returned and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy.

  9. Leaving them again, he went off and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

  10. Then he came to the talmidim and said, "For now, go on sleeping, take your rest. . . . Look! The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.

  11. Get up! Let's go! Here comes my betrayer!"

  12. While Yeshua was still speaking, Y'hudah (one of the Twelve!) came, and with him a large crowd carrying swords and clubs, from the head cohanim and elders of the people.

  13. The betrayer had arranged to give them a signal: "The man I kiss is the one you want -- grab him!"

  14. He went straight up to Yeshua, said, "Shalom, Rabbi!" and kissed him.

  15. Yeshua said to him, "Friend, do what you came to do." Then they moved forward, laid hold of Yeshua and arrested him.

  16. They went to a place called Gat Sh'manim; and Yeshua said to his talmidim, "Sit here while I pray."

  17. He took with him Kefa, Ya`akov and Yochanan. Great distress and anguish came over him;

  18. and he said to them, "My heart is so filled with sadness that I could die! Remain here and stay awake."

  19. Going on a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that if possible, the hour might pass from him:

  20. "Abba!" (that is, "Dear Father!") "All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me! Still, not what I want, but what you want."

  21. He came and found them sleeping; and he said to Kefa, "Shim`on, are you asleep? Couldn't you stay awake one hour?

  22. Stay awake, and pray that you will not be put to the test -- the spirit indeed is eager, but human nature is weak."

  23. Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words;

  24. and again he came and found them sleeping, their eyes were so very heavy; and they didn't know what to answer him.

  25. The third time, he came and said to them, "For now, go on sleeping, take your rest. . . .There, that's enough! The time has come! Look! The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners!
