  1. Be silent at the presence of the Lord the LORD, for the day of the LORD is at hand. For the LORD has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.

  9. That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

  10. a day of the shofar and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements.

  11. I will bring distress on men, that they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD, and their blood will be poured out like dust, and their flesh like dung.

  12. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.

  13. For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

  14. They shall be as mighty men, treading down muddy streets in the battle; and they shall fight, because the LORD is with them; and the riders on horses will be confounded.

  15. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go out into captivity, and the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

  16. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.

  17. “When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don’t be troubled. For those must happen, but the end is not yet.

  18. Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

  19. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.

  20. When you hear of wars and disturbances, don’t be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won’t come immediately.”

  21. “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.

  22. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the midst of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein.

  23. For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

  24. Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.

  25. They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
