  1. Be silent before the face of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is near, for the Lord hath prepared a victim, he hath sanctified his guests.

  9. That day is a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and distress, a day of calamity and misery, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and whirlwinds,

  10. A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high bulwarks.

  11. And I will distress men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as earth, and their bodies as dung.

  12. Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.

  13. For before those days there was no hire for men, neither was there hire for beasts, neither was there peace to him that came in, nor to him that went out, because of the tribulation: and I let all men go every one against his neighbour.

  14. And they shall be as mighty men, treading under foot the mire of the ways in battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders of horses shall be confounded.

  15. And I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses shall be rifled, and the women shall be defiled: and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the rest of the people shall not be taken away out of the city.

  16. And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass: but the end is not yet.

  17. And when you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, fear ye not. For such things must needs be: but the end is not yet.

  18. Or, what king, about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down and think whether he be able, with ten thousand, to meet him that, with twenty thousand, cometh against him?

  19. Or else, while the other is yet afar off, sending an embassy, he desireth conditions of peace.

  20. And when you shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified. These things must first come to pass: but the end is not yet presently.

  21. And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army, then know that the desolation thereof is at hand.

  22. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains: and those who are in the midst thereof depart out: and those who are in the countries not enter into it.

  23. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be fulfilled, that are written.

  24. But woe to them that are with child and give suck in those days: for there shall be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.

  25. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captives into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles till the times of the nations be fulfilled.
