  1. Yeshua returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.

  2. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,

  3. Yochanan testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

  4. I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to immerse in water, he said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who immerses in the Holy Spirit.’

  5. For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

  6. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.

  7. But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Yeshua wasn’t yet glorified.

  8. I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,—

  9. the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

  10. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

  11. “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

  12. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

  13. However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

  14. He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

  15. All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.

  16. When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit!

  17. until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the emissaries whom he had chosen.

  18. Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

  19. For Yochanan indeed immersed in water, but you will be immersed in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

  20. Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

  21. The word which he sent to the children of Israel, proclaiming good news of peace by Yeshua the Messiah—he is Lord of all—

  22. you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the immersion which Yochanan preached;

  23. even Yeshua of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

  24. concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,

  25. who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Yeshua the Messiah our Lord,
