  1. At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

  2. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

  3. While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

  8. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

  9. He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

  10. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

  11. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  12. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

  13. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

  14. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

  15. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

  16. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

  17. ¶ And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

  18. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

  19. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

  20. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

  21. But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

  22. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

  23. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

  24. And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

  25. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
