  1. ¶ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

  2. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

  3. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

  4. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

  5. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

  6. ¶ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

  7. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

  11. But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

  12. In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

  13. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

  14. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

  15. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

  16. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

  17. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

  18. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

  19. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

  20. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

  21. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

  22. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

  23. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

  24. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

  25. ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
