  1. Then beholde, a certaine Lawyer stoode vp, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I doe, to inherite eternall life?

  2. And forgiue vs our sinnes: for euen we forgiue euery man that is indetted to vs: And leade vs not into temptation: but deliuer vs from euill.

  3. Let your loynes be gird about and your lights burning,

  4. And ye your selues like vnto men that waite for their master, when he will returne from the wedding, that when he commeth and knocketh, they may open vnto him immediatly.

  5. Blessed are those seruants, whom the Lord when he commeth shall finde waking: verely I say vnto you, he will girde himselfe about, and make them to sit downe at table, and will come forth, and serue them.

  6. And if he come in the seconde watch, or come in the third watch, and shall finde them so, blessed are those seruants.

  7. Heauen and earth shall passe away, but my wordes shall not passe away.

  8. Take heede to your selues, lest at any time your hearts be oppressed with surfeting and drunkennesse, and cares of this life, and least that day come on you at vnwares.

  9. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

  10. Watche therefore, and pray continually, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these thinges that shall come to passe, and that ye may stand before the Sonne of man.

  11. Then entred Satan into Iudas, who was called Iscariot, and was of the nomber of the twelue.

  12. And the Lord saide, Simon, Simon, beholde, Satan hath desired you, to winowe you as wheate.

  13. But I haue prayed for thee, that thy faith faile not: therefore when thou art conuerted, strengthen thy brethren.

  14. And when hee came to the place, hee said to them, Pray, lest ye enter into tentation.

  15. And he said vnto them, Why sleepe ye? rise and pray, least ye enter into tentation.

  16. And when supper was done (and that the deuill had now put in the heart of Iudas Iscariot, Simons sonne, to betray him)

  17. These thinges haue I saide vnto you, that ye should not be offended.

  18. They shall excommunicate you: yea, the time shall come, that whosoeuer killeth you, will thinke that he doeth God seruice.

  19. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou keepe them from euill.

  20. Let not sinne reigne therefore in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in ye lusts therof:

  21. Neither giue ye your members, as weapons of vnrighteousnes vnto sinne: but giue your selues vnto God, as they that are aliue from the dead, and giue your members as weapons of righteousnesse vnto God.

  22. For sinne shall not haue dominion ouer you: for ye are not vnder ye Lawe, but vnder grace.

  23. For when we were in ye flesh, the affections of sinnes, which were by the Law, had force in our members, to bring foorth fruit vnto death.

  24. Who shall separate vs from the loue of Christ? shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakednesse, or perill, or sworde?

  25. As it is written, For thy sake are we killed all day long: we are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
