  1. And the trial of me which was in my flesh, ye despised not, neither abhorred: but ye receiued me as an Angel of God, yea, as Christ Iesus.

  2. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary one to another, so that ye can not doe the same things that ye would.

  3. Brethren, if a man be suddenly taken in any offence, ye which are spirituall, restore such one with the spirit of meekenes, considering thy selfe, least thou also be tempted.

  10. And take the helmet of saluation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the worde of God.

  11. Euen for this cause, when I could no longer forbeare, I sent him that I might knowe of your faith, lest the tempter had tempted you in any sort, and that our labour had bene in vaine.

  12. For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.

  13. For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction.

  14. For the desire of money is the roote of all euill, which while some lusted after, they erred from the faith, and pearced themselues through with many sorowes.

  15. But the euill men and deceiuers, shall waxe worse and worse, deceiuing, and being deceiued.

  16. For in that he suffered, and was tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

  17. For we haue not an hie Priest, which can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all things tempted in like sort, yet without sinne.

  18. Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes.

  19. Ye haue not yet resisted vnto blood, striuing against sinne.

  20. My brethren, count it exceeding ioy, when ye fall into diuers tentations,

  21. Knowing that ye trying of your faith bringeth forth patience,

  22. And let patience haue her perfect worke, that ye may be perfect and entier, lacking nothing.

  23. Blessed is ye man, that endureth tentation: for when he is tried, hee shall receiue the crowne of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that loue him.

  24. Let no man say when hee is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God can not bee tempted with euill, neither tempteth he any man.

  25. But euery man is tempted, when hee is drawen away by his owne concupiscence, and is entised.
