I am the vine: you the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind.

And he saw the heaven opened and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great linen sheet let down by the four corners from heaven to the earth:

Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts and creeping things of the earth and fowls of the air.

And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter. Kill and eat.

But Peter said: Far be it from me. For I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean.

And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common.

And this was done thrice. And presently the vessel was taken up into heaven.

For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman and the other by a free woman.

But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh: but he of the free woman was by promise.

Which things are said by an allegory. For these are the two testaments. The one from Mount Sina, engendering unto bondage, which is Agar.

For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is: and is in bondage with her children.

But that Jerusalem which is above is free: which is our mother.

For it is written: Rejoice, thou barren, that bearest not: break forth and cry thou that travailest not: for many are the children of the desolate, more than of her that hath a husband.

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

But as then he that was born according to the flesh persecuted him that was after the spirit: so also it is now.

But what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.

So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman but of the free: by the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free.

Labour as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses: that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.

For he also that striveth for the mastery is not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

The husbandman that laboureth must first partake of the fruits.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth: and some indeed unto honour, but some unto dishonour.

If any man therefore shall cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and profitable to the Lord, prepared unto every good work.

For if a man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass.
