  1. At least now understand, that God hath not afflicted me with an equal judgment, and compassed me with his scourges.

  13. For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?

  14. And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night?

  15. And he shall judge the world in equity, he shall judge the people in justice.

  16. And the Lord is become a refuge for the poor: a helper in due time in tribulation.

  17. A psalm for David. The Lord ruleth me: and I shall want nothing.

  18. He hath set me in a place of pasture. He hath brought me up, on the water of refreshment:

  19. The innocent in hands, and clean of heart, who hath not taken his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbour.

  20. Because they have not understood the works of the Lord, and the operations of his hands: thou shalt destroy them, and shalt not build them up.

  21. Blessed be the Lord, for he hath heard the voice of my supplication.

  22. Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

  23. Thou art my refuge from the trouble which hath encompassed me: my joy, deliver me from them that surround me.

  24. Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise evil against me.

  25. Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
