  1. How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

  2. One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

  3. His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.

  13. If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,

  14. all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.

  15. Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.

  16. Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?

  17. Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.

  18. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.

  19. For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

  20. For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there.

  21. I have seen the wicked in great power, spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.

  22. But he passed away, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

  23. That he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.

  24. For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.

  25. he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.
