  1. It was told the house of David, saying, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

  2. Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.

  3. Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

  4. Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,

  5. “Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel.”

  6. This is what the Lord GOD says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

  7. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people;

  8. and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’”

  9. Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!

  10. Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand: for God is with us.”

  11. For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

  12. “Don’t say, ‘A conspiracy!’ concerning all about which this people say, ‘A conspiracy!’ neither fear their threats, nor be terrorized.

  13. They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.

  14. Princes were hanged up by their hand: The faces of elders were not honored.

  15. The young men bare the mill; The children stumbled under the wood.

  16. You shall ascend, you shall come like a storm, you shall be like a cloud to cover the land, you, and all your hordes, and many peoples with you.

  17. Thus says the Lord GOD: It shall happen in that day, that things shall come into your mind, and you shall devise an evil device:

  18. and you shall say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to those who are at rest, who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates;

  19. to take the plunder and to take the prey; to turn your hand against the waste places that are inhabited, and against the people who are gathered out of the nations, who have gotten livestock and goods, who dwell in the middle of the earth.

  20. Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions of it, shall tell you, Have you come to take the plunder? have you assembled your company to take the prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?

  21. Therefore, son of man, prophesy, and tell Gog, Thus says the Lord GOD: In that day when my people Israel dwells securely, shall you not know it?

  22. You shall come from your place out of the uttermost parts of the north, you, and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army;

  23. and you shall come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land: it shall happen in the latter days, that I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified in you, Gog, before their eyes.

  24. It grew great, even to the army of the sky; and some of the army and of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled on them.

  25. Yes, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the army; and it took away from him the continual burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
