  1. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

  2. Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

  3. ¶ Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

  5. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

  6. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

  7. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

  8. ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

  9. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

  10. If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

  11. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

  12. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

  13. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

  14. ¶ Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

  15. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

  16. ¶ Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

  17. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

  18. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

  19. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

  20. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

  21. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

  22. Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

  23. ¶ For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

  24. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

  25. ¶ And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
