  1. And he answered: No: but I am prince of the host of the Lord, and now I am come.

  12. He will guide the mild in judgment: he will teach the meek his ways.

  13. All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth, to them that seek after his covenant and his testimonies.

  14. Counsel and equity is mine, prudence is mine, strength is mine.

  15. By me kings reign, and lawgivers decree just things.

  16. By me princes rule, and the mighty decree justice.

  17. And he said: Go, and thou shalt say to this people: Hearing, hear, and understand not: and see the vision, and know it not.

  18. Blind the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes: lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.

  19. And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the spirit of wisdom, and of understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge, and of godliness.

  20. And he shall be filled with the spirit of the fear of the Lord, He shall not judge according to the sight of the eyes, nor reprove according to the hearing of the ears.

  21. But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity the meek of the earth: and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

  22. And justice shall be the girdle of his loins: and faith the girdle of his reins.

  23. I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:

  24. That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

  25. Thus saith the Lord: What is this bill of the divorce of your mother, with which I have put her away? or who is my creditor, to whom I sold you: behold you are sold for your iniquities, and for your wicked deeds have I put your mother away.
