  1. For even when we were come into Macedonia our flesh had no relief, butwe wereafflicted on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

  2. Nevertheless he that comforteth the lowly, even God, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

  3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh

  4. (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds);

  7. And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

  8. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would.

  9. And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

  10. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

  11. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  12. Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

  13. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

  14. and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

  15. withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

  16. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

  17. with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,

  18. having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

  19. so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober.

  20. But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

  21. This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare;

  22. holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith:

  23. Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

  24. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

  25. No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
