  1. For when we arrived in Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were pressed from every direction—conflicts on the outside, fears within.

  12. Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.

  13. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness arrayed,

  14. and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.

  15. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

  16. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  17. Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.

  18. since you are encountering the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

  19. So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.

  20. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.

  21. Timothy, my child, I entrust you with this command in keeping with the previous prophecies about you, so that by them you may fight the good fight,

  22. holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and thereby shipwrecked their faith.

  23. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.

  24. Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

  25. A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him.
