  1. for also we, having come to Macedonia, no relaxation hath our flesh had, but on every side we are in tribulation, without are fightings, within--fears;

  2. but He who is comforting the cast-down--God--He did comfort us in the presence of Titus;

  3. for walking in the flesh, not according to the flesh do we war,

  4. for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful to God for bringing down of strongholds,

  5. reasonings bringing down, and every high thing lifted up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ,

  6. and that by the exceeding greatness of the revelations I might not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of the Adversary, that he might buffet me, that I might not be exalted overmuch.

  7. and He said to me, `Sufficient for thee is My grace, for My power in infirmity is perfected;' most gladly, therefore, will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of the Christ may rest on me:

  8. for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will--these ye may not do;

  9. and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

  10. put on the whole armour of God, for your being able to stand against the wiles of the devil,

  11. because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

  12. because of this take ye up the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the day of the evil, and all things having done--to stand.

  13. Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness,

  14. and having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace;

  15. above all, having taken up the shield of the faith, in which ye shall be able all the fiery darts of the evil one to quench,

  16. and the helmet of the salvation receive, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the saying of God,

  17. through all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--

  18. the same conflict having, such as ye saw in me, and now hear of in me.

  19. so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,

  20. and we, being of the day--let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet--a hope of salvation,

  21. This charge I commit to thee, child Timotheus, according to the prophesies that went before upon thee, that thou mayest war in them the good warfare,

  22. having faith and a good conscience, which certain having thrust away, concerning the faith did make shipwreck,

  23. be striving the good strife of the faith, be laying hold on the life age-during, to which also thou wast called, and didst profess the right profession before many witnesses.

  24. thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;

  25. no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;
