  1. But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

  2. And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.

  3. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

  4. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

  5. Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.

  6. and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints that had fallen asleep were raised;

  7. and coming forth out of the tombs after his resurrection they entered into the holy city and appeared unto many.

  8. And there come unto him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

  9. Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave a wife behind him, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

  10. There were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed;

  11. and the second took her, and died, leaving no seed behind him; and the third likewise:

  12. and the seven left no seed. Last of all the woman also died.

  13. In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

  14. Jesus said unto them, Is it not for this cause that ye err, that ye know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?

  15. For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as angels in heaven.

  16. But as touching the dead, that they are raised; have ye not read in the book of Moses, in the place concerning the Bush, how God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

  17. He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye do greatly err.

  18. and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not wherewith to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.

  19. And there came to him certain of the Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection;

  20. and they asked him, saying, Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, that if a man’s brother die, having a wife, and he be childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

  21. There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died childless;

  22. and the second:

  23. and the third took her; and likewise the seven also left no children, and died.

  24. Afterward the woman also died.

  25. In the resurrection therefore whose wife of them shall she be? for the seven had her to wife.
