  1. For he is our God, And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To-day, oh that ye would hear his voice!

  13. Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:

  14. For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of Jehovah,

  15. They would none of my counsel, They despised all my reproof.

  16. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices.

  17. For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, And the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

  18. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell securely, And shall be quiet without fear of evil.

  19. Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; And walk in the way of understanding.

  20. Boast not thyself of to-morrow; For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

  21. He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

  22. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

  23. learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

  24. A remnant shall return, eventhe remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
