  1. and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

  10. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to-morrow about this time.

  11. and say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

  13. The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,

  14. Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

  15. He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

  16. Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:

  17. O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge: Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,

  18. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; He maketh his arrows fiery shafts.

  19. In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.

  20. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; Lest mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved.

  21. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou sofar from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?

  22. O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou answerest not; And in the night season, and am not silent.

  23. But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised of the people.

  24. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

  25. Commit thyself unto Jehovah; let him deliver him: Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.
