  1. And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth: and there was not a man to till the ground;

  2. but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

  3. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, of the fatness of the earth shall be thy dwelling, And of the dew of heaven from above;

  4. That commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, And sealeth up the stars;

  5. He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing.

  6. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; And the cloud is not rent under them.

  7. The pillars of heaven tremble And are astonished at his rebuke.

  8. Terrors overtake him like waters; A tempest stealeth him away in the night.

  9. The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth; And it sweepeth him out of his place.

  10. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, And seeth under the whole heaven;

  11. To make a weight for the wind: Yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.

  12. When he made a decree for the rain, And a way for the lightning of the thunder;

  13. Then did he see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.

  14. My root is spread out to the waters, And the dew lieth all night upon my branch:

  15. For he draweth up the drops of water, Which distil in rain from his vapor,

  16. Which the skies pour down And drop upon man abundantly.

  17. Yea, can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, The thunderings of his pavilion?

  18. Behold, he spreadeth his light around him; And he covereth the bottom of the sea.

  19. For by these he judgeth the peoples; He giveth food in abundance.

  20. He covereth his hands with the lightning, And giveth it a charge that it strike the mark.

  21. The noise thereof telleth concerning him, The cattle also concerningthe stormthat cometh up.

  22. For he saith to the snow, Fall thou on the earth; Likewise to the shower of rain, And to the showers of his mighty rain.

  23. He sealeth up the hand of every man, That all men whom he hath made may know it.

  24. Then the beasts go into coverts, And remain in their dens.

  25. Out of the chamberof the south cometh the storm, And cold out of the north.
