  1. Behold, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they don’t do them.

  14. Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

  16. His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.

  17. For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Messiah.

  18. What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.

  19. They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.

  20. But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.

  21. Those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.

  22. If then you were raised together with Messiah, seek the things that are above, where Messiah is, seated on the right hand of God.

  23. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

  24. Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

  25. Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.
