  1. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

  2. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

  3. And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.

  10. for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

  11. In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another;

  12. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

  13. but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

  14. Therefore we have been comforted: and in our comfort we joyed the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit hath been refreshed by you all.

  15. For if in anything I have gloried to him on your behalf, I was not put to shame; but as we spake all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.

  16. And his affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

  17. For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.

  18. Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.

  19. They zealously seek you in no good way; nay, they desire to shut you out, that ye may seek them.

  20. But it is good to be zealously sought in a good matter at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

  21. And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

  22. If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

  23. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.

  24. Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

  25. even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.
