For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.
Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood: with honour preventing one another.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ: and make not provision for the flesh in its concupiscences.
But I chastise my body and bring it into subjection: lest perhaps, when I have preached to others, I myself should become a castaway.
Before God: therefore we were comforted. But in our consolation we did the more abundantly rejoice for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
And if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I have not been put to shame: but as we have spoken all things to you in truth, so also our boasting that was made to Titus is found a truth.
And his bowels are more abundantly towards you: remembering the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him.
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Where is then your blessedness? For I bear you witness that, if it could be done, you would have plucked out your own eyes and would have given them to me.
They are zealous in your regard not well: but they would exclude you, that you might be zealous for them.
But be zealous for that which is good in a good thing always: and not only when I am present with you.
And they that are Christ's have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.
Therefore if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.
Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is the service of idols.
So desirous of you, we would gladly impart unto you not only the gospel of God but also our own souls: because you were become most dear unto us.
