For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.

He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.

The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

¶ A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

Па́стирю Ізраїлів, — послухай же, Ти, що прова́диш, немов ту отару, Йо́сипа, що на Херувимах сидиш, — появися

перед обличчям Єфре́ма, і Веніями́на, і Манасі́ї! Пробуди Свою силу, і прийди, щоб спасти нас!

Боже, приверни нас, і хай засяє обличчя Твоє, — й ми спасе́мось!

Господи, Боже Савао́те, — доки будеш Ти гні́ватися на молитву наро́ду Свого?

Ти вчинив був, що їли вони слізний хліб, і їх напоїв Ти сльоза́ми великої міри.

Ти нас положи́в супере́чкою нашим сусідам, і насміхаються з нас неприя́телі наші.

Та скоро забули вони Його чин, не чекали пора́ди Його́,

і пала́ли в пустині жада́нням, і Бога в пустині ізнов випробо́вували,

і Він їхнє жада́ння їм дав, але худість послав в їхню душу.

Єрусалиме, збудо́ваний ти як те місто, що злу́чене ра́зом,

куди схо́дять племе́на, племе́на Господні, — щоб сві́дчити Ізра́їлеві, щоб Іме́нню Господньому дя́кувати!
