  1. And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

  2. And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

  3. And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.

  7. ¶ Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.

  8. And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.

  9. And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?

  10. And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

  11. And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.

  12. And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

  13. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

  14. And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

  15. And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

  16. And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

  17. And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

  18. ¶ And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

  19. Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

  20. Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

  21. In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

  22. ¶ And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

  23. The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

  24. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

  25. And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:
