  1. Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

  2. Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

  3. ¶ How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

  13. When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

  14. But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

  15. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

  16. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

  17. ¶ To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

  18. O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

  19. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

  20. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

  21. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

  22. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

  23. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;

  24. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

  25. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
