  1. To him nowe that is of power to establish you according to my Gospel, and preaching of Iesus Christ, by the reuelation of the mysterie, which was kept secrete since the worlde began:

  2. (But nowe is opened, and published among all nations by the Scriptures of the Prophetes, at the commandement of the euerlasting God for the obedience of faith)

  3. But vnto them which are called, both of the Iewes and Grecians, we preach Christ, the power of God, and the wisedome of God.

  4. For the foolishnesse of God is wiser then men, and the weakenesse of God is stronger then men.

  5. Neither stoode my woorde, and my preaching in the entising speach of mans wisdom, but in plaine euidence of the Spirite and of power,

  6. That your faith should not be in the wisdome of men, but in the power of God.

  7. And we speake wisedome among them that are perfect: not the wisedome of this world, neither of the princes of this world, which come to nought.

  8. But we speake the wisedome of God in a mysterie, euen the hid wisedom, which God had determined before the world, vnto our glory.

  9. For though I preach the Gospel, I haue nothing to reioyce of: for necessitie is laid vpon me, and woe is vnto me, if I preach not the Gospel.

  10. For if I do it willingly, I haue a reward, but if I do it against my will, notwithstanding the dispensation is committed vnto me.

  11. What is my reward then? verely that when I preach the Gospel, I make the Gospel of Christ free, that I abuse not mine authoritie in ye Gospel.

  12. Moreouer brethren, I declare vnto you the Gospel, which I preached vnto you, which ye haue also receiued, and wherein ye continue,

  13. And whereby ye are saued, if ye keepe in memorie, after what maner I preached it vnto you, except ye haue beleeued in vaine.

  14. Who also hath made vs able ministers of the Newe testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirite: for the letter killeth, but the Spirite giueth life.

  15. If then the ministration of death written with letters and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses, for the glorie of his countenance (which glorie is done away.)

  16. Howe shall not the ministration of the Spirite be more glorious?

  17. For if the ministerie of condemnation was glorious, much more doeth the ministration of righteousnesse exceede in glorie.

  18. For euen that which was glorified, was not glorified in this point, that is, as touching the exceeding glorie.

  19. For if that which should be abolished, was glorious, much more shall that which remaineth, be glorious.

  20. If our Gospell bee then hid, it is hid to them that are lost.

  21. In whom the God of this world hath blinded the mindes, that is, of the infidels, that the light of the glorious Gospell of Christ, which is the image of God, should not shine vnto them.

  22. (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes)

  23. Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ,

  24. In whom also ye haue trusted, after that ye heard the worde of trueth, euen the Gospel of your saluation, wherein also after that ye beleeued, ye were sealed with the holy Spirite of promise,

  25. Which is the earnest of our inheritance, for the redemption of that libertie purchased vnto the prayse of his glory.
