  1. He that boasteth and puffeth up himself, stirreth up quarrels: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be healed.

  2. A passionate man provoketh quarrels: and he that is easily stirred up to wrath, shall be more prone to sin.

  3. And he that strongly squeezeth the paps to bring out milk, straineth out butter: and he that violently bloweth his nose, bringeth out blood: and he that provoketh wrath, bringeth forth strife.

  10. Therefore the law is torn in pieces, and judgment cometh not to the end: because the wicked prevaileth against the just, therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.

  11. Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

  12. But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other:

  13. And if a man will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him.

  14. And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two.

  15. Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.

  16. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

  17. And a man's enemies shall be they of his own household.

  18. But Jesus knowing it, retired from thence: and many followed him, and he healed them all.

  19. And he charged them that they should not make him known.

  20. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaias the prophet, saying:

  21. Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul hath been well pleased. I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

  22. He shall not contend, nor cry out, neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

  23. And Jesus knowing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself shall be made desolate: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.

  24. But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.

  25. And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand.
