  1. And the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from thence captive, and let him go, and dwell with them: and let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.

  2. So one of the priests, who had been carried away captive from Samaria, came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should worship the Lord.

  3. Sing ye to the Lord, all the earth: shew forth from day to day his salvation.

  11. The heavens declared his justice: and all people saw his glory.

  12. Let them be all confounded that adore graven things, and that glory in their idols. Adore him, all you his angels:

  13. Sion heard, and was glad. And the daughters of Juda rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.

  14. For thou art the most high Lord over all the earth: thou art exalted exceedingly above all gods.

  15. You that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his saints, he will deliver them out of the hand of the sinner.

  17. Rejoice, ye just, in the Lord: and give praise to the remembrance of his holiness.

  18. Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

  20. And every one that calleth upon my name, I have created him for my glory. I have formed him, and made him.

  21. And the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time saying:

  22. Arise, and go to Ninive, the great city: and preach in it the preaching that I bid thee.

  23. And Jonah arose, and went to Ninive, according to the word of the Lord: now Ninive was a great city of three days' journey.

  24. And Jonah began to enter into the city one day's journey: and he cried and said: Yet forty days and Ninive shall be destroyed.

  25. And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.
