  1. In response, the king of Ashur gave this order: "Take back one of the cohanim you brought from there. Have him go and live there, and have him teach them the rules for worshipping the God of the land."

  2. So one of the cohanim they had carried away captive from Shomron came and lived in Beit-El, and he taught them how they should fear ADONAI.

  3. Sing to ADONAI, all the earth! Proclaim his victory day after day!

  12. Give ADONAI his due, you families from the peoples; give ADONAI his due of glory and strength;

  13. give ADONAI the glory due to his name; bring an offering, and enter his courtyards.

  14. Worship ADONAI in holy splendor; tremble before him, all the earth!

  15. Say among the nations, "ADONAI is king!"The world is firmly established, immovable. He will judge the peoples fairly.

  16. Let the heavens rejoice; let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and everything in it;

  17. let the fields exult and all that is in them. Then all the trees in the forest will sing

  18. before ADONAI, because he has come, he has come to judge the earth; he will judge the world rightly and the peoples with his faithfulness.

  19. I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Don't hold them back! Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth,

  20. everyone who bears my name, whom I created for my glory - I formed him, yes, I made him.'"

  21. The word of ADONAI came to Yonah a second time:

  22. "Set out for the great city of Ninveh, and proclaim to it the message I will give you."

  23. So Yonah set out and went to Ninveh, as ADONAI had said. Now Ninveh was such a large city that it took three days just to cross it.

  24. Yonah began his entry into the city and had finished only his first day of proclaiming, 'In forty days Ninveh will be overthrown,'

  25. when the people of Ninveh believed God. They proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least.
