And the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from thence captive, and let him go, and dwell with them: and let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.
So one of the priests, who had been carried away captive from Samaria, came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should worship the Lord.
Sing ye to the Lord, all the earth: shew forth from day to day his salvation.
Declare his glory among the Gentiles: his wonders among all people.
Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
A fire shall go before him, and shall burn his enemies round about.
You that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his saints, he will deliver them out of the hand of the sinner.
I will say to the north: Give up: and to the south: Keep not back: bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.
And every one that calleth upon my name, I have created him for my glory. I have formed him, and made him.
And the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time saying:
Arise, and go to Ninive, the great city: and preach in it the preaching that I bid thee.
And Jonah arose, and went to Ninive, according to the word of the Lord: now Ninive was a great city of three days' journey.
And Jonah began to enter into the city one day's journey: and he cried and said: Yet forty days and Ninive shall be destroyed.
And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.
And the word came to the king of Ninive: and he rose up out of his throne, and cast away his robe from him, and was clothed in sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published in Ninive, from the mouth of the king and of his princes, saying: Let neither men nor beasts, oxen, nor sheep taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water.
And let men and beasts be covered with sackcloth, and cry to the Lord with all their strength, and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the iniquity that is in their hands.
Who can tell if God will turn, and forgive: and will turn away from his fierce anger, and we shall not perish?
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations: and then shall the consummation come.
Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
And unto all nations the gospel must first be preached.
And he said to them: Go ye into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature.
And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And you are witnesses of these things.
And on the next day, whilst they were going on their journey and drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up to the higher parts of the house to pray, about the sixth hour.
