  1. Then your tzedakah will be in secret; and your Father, who sees what you do in secret, will reward you.

  2. But you, when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

  10. yet I tell you that not even Shlomo in all his glory was clothed as beautifully as one of these.

  11. If this is how God clothes grass in the field -- which is here today and gone tomorrow, thrown in an oven -- won't he much more clothe you? What little trust you have!

  12. "So don't be anxious, asking, `What will we eat?,' `What will we drink?' or `How will we be clothed?'

  13. For it is the pagans who set their hearts on all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all.

  14. But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  15. Don't wor y about tomorrow -- tomorrow will worry about itself! Today has enough tsuris already!

  16. "Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

  17. For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened.

  18. Is there anyone here who, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone?

  19. or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

  20. So if you, even though you are bad, know how to give your children gifts that are good, how much more will your Father in heaven keep giving good things to those who keep asking him!

  21. Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let him hear!

  22. But love your enemies, do good, and lend expecting nothing back! Your reward will be great, and you will be children of Ha`Elyon; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

  23. Show compassion, just as your Father shows compassion.

  24. But to as many as did receive him, to those who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the right to become children of God,

  25. not because of bloodline, physical impulse or human intention, but because of God.
