  16. Then they will deliver you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

  17. So without delay, the king commanded that John’s head be brought in. He sent an executioner, who went and beheaded him in the prison.

  20. As a result, this generation will be charged with the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the foundation of the world,

  21. from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, all of it will be charged to this generation.

  22. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death.

  23. And you will be hated by everyone because of My name.

  24. Whoever loves his life will lose it, but whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

  25. They will put you out of the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God.
