  1. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.

  2. But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’

  3. And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.

  12. the oath He swore to our father Abraham, to grant us

  13. Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.

  14. So he said to the keeper of the vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’

  15. ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone again this year, until I dig around it and fertilize it.

  16. If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”

  17. “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?

  18. And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders,

  19. comes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors to tell them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!’

  20. In the same way, I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent.

  21. Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons.

  22. The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

  23. After a few days, the younger son got everything together and journeyed to a distant country, where he squandered his wealth in wild living.

  24. After he had spent all he had, a severe famine swept through that country, and he began to be in need.

  25. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed the pigs.
