  1. And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

  2. and said unto them, I see your father’s countenance, that it is not toward me as beforetime; but the God of my father hath been with me.

  3. And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

  4. And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

  9. They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?

  10. He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

  11. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery.

  12. But from the beginning of the creation, Male and female made he them.

  13. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife;

  14. and the two shall become one flesh: so that they are no more two, but one flesh.

  15. But, because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

  16. Let the husband render unto the wife her due: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

  17. The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power over his own body, but the wife.

  18. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;

  19. that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

  20. that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

  21. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:

  22. for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;

  23. because we are members of his body.

  24. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.

  25. This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.
