  1. And Jesus answering said, `Ye have not known what ye ask for yourselves; are ye able to drink of the cup that I am about to drink? and with the baptism that I am baptized with, to be baptized?' They say to him, `We are able.'

  2. having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them--to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

  3. teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days--till the full end of the age.'

  4. And he goeth up to the mountain, and doth call near whom he willed, and they went away to him;

  5. and he appointed twelve, that they may be with him, and that he may send them forth to preach,

  6. and to have power to heal the sicknesses, and to cast out the demons.

  7. And he put on Simon the name Peter;

  8. and James of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, and he put on them names--Boanerges, that is, `Sons of thunder;'

  9. and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Cananite,

  10. and Judas Iscariot, who did also deliver him up; and they come into a house.

  11. and he doth call near the twelve, and he began to send them forth two by two, and he was giving them power over the unclean spirits,

  12. and he commanded them that they may take nothing for the way, except a staff only--no scrip, no bread, no brass in the girdle,

  13. but having been shod with sandals, and ye may not put on two coats.

  14. And he said to them, `Whenever ye may enter into a house, there remain till ye may depart thence,

  15. and as many as may not receive you, nor hear you, going out thence, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony to them; verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom or Gomorrah in a day of judgment than for that city.'

  16. And he went up unto them to the boat, and the wind lulled, and greatly out of measure were they amazed in themselves, and were wondering,

  17. for they understood not concerning the loaves, for their heart hath been hard.

  18. And Jesus having known, saith to them, `Why do ye reason, because ye have no loaves? do ye not yet perceive, nor understand, yet have ye your heart hardened?

  19. Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? and do ye not remember?

  20. And as they are coming down from the mount, he charged them that they may declare to no one the things that they saw, except when the Son of Man may rise out of the dead;

  21. and the thing they kept to themselves, questioning together what the rising out of the dead is.

  22. for he was teaching his disciples, and he said to them, `The Son of Man is being delivered to the hands of men, and they shall kill him, and having been killed the third day he shall rise,'

  23. but they were not understanding the saying, and they were afraid to question him.

  24. And they were bringing to him children, that he might touch them, and the disciples were rebuking those bringing them,

  25. and Jesus having seen, was much displeased, and he said to them, `Suffer the children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the reign of God;
