  1. You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”

  7. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.

  8. As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.”

  9. So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.

  10. Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the shofar; and all the people said, “Long live king Solomon!”

  11. All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.

  12. Solomon sat on the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was firmly established.

  13. Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. The king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.

  14. Now therefore as the LORD lives, who has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day.”

  15. The LORD has established his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

  16. Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore made he you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

  17. Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.

  18. There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

  19. Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any kingdom.

  20. Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

  21. “The LORD has performed his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

  22. Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

  23. And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

  24. Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any kingdom.

  25. The LORD has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
