  1. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his immersion, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

  2. Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance!

  3. Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

  4. Yeshua said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

  5. They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”

  6. Yeshua, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, ‘because you have brought no bread?’

  7. Don’t you yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

  8. Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

  9. How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

  10. Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

  11. On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

  12. saying, “Rabbi, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

  13. Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

  14. In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

  15. After them all, the woman died.

  16. In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

  17. But Yeshua answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

  18. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

  19. But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

  20. ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

  21. When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

  22. But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

  23. There came to him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection. They asked him, saying,

  24. “Rabbi, Moses wrote to us, ‘If a man’s brother dies, and leaves a wife behind him, and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.’

  25. There were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and dying left no offspring.
