  1. The people murmured against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

  2. Then he cried to the LORD. The LORD showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them;

  3. and he said, “If you will diligently listen to the LORD your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”

  10. It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven shofars of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced, and blew the shofars; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

  11. Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances: and she was his only child; besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

  13. and the Spirit of the LORD will come mightily on you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.

  14. Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

  15. Saul’s servants said to him, “See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.

  16. Let our lord now command your servants who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. It shall happen, when the evil spirit from God is on you, that he shall play with his hand, and you shall be well.”

  17. Saul said to his servants, “Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.”

  18. When the spirit from God was on Saul, David took the harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

  19. As they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with instruments of music.

  20. The women sang one to another as they played, and said, “Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands.”

  21. They brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.

  22. David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD with all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with castanets, and with cymbals.

  23. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the LORD’s ark with shouting, and with the sound of the shofar.

  24. I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?

  25. All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.
