  8. of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.

  9. All these were under the hands of their father for song in the LORD’s house, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God’s house; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

  10. Now the first lot came out for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah; he and his brothers and sons were twelve:

  11. also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests sounding with shofars;)

  12. Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly;

  13. and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;

  14. Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

  15. The singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the porters were at every gate: they didn’t need to depart from their service; for their brothers the Levites prepared for them.

  16. The singers: the children of Asaph, one hundred twenty-eight.

  17. When the builders laid the foundation of the LORD’s temple, they set the priests in their clothing with shofars, with the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the directions of David king of Israel.

  19. The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the business of God’s house.

  20. and certain of the priests’ sons with shofars: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;

  21. For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.

  22. The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks, and calls the earth from sunrise to sunset.

  23. Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

  24. God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?

  25. We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
